¿Qué harías si de repente ves en una estación de tren a alguien suicidarse? ¿Qué pasa si esa persona es físicamente idéntica a ti? Sí, la persona que un segundo atrás viste no solo es idéntico a ti, sino que ahora está debajo de los rieles de un tren… Y lo peor, todo ha sucedido en cuestión de segundos que ni tú mismo lo crees.
Si crees que este sería un buen inicio de una historia, debo decirte que ya ha sido pensada y desarrollada en una de las mejores series de ciencia ficción de estos tiempos. Orphan Black es la serie que todos ustedes deberían estar viendo si son amantes de la ciencia ficción, la acción, el humor y la clonación. Toda la historia empieza con Sarah quien está en una estación de tren y se topa con una mujer que es idéntica a ella. Lo curioso de todo es que estas dos mujeres se topan antes de que una de ellas se lance a los rieles de un tren que está en marcha. En un principio, Sarah no puede creer lo sucedido y antes de que las personas lleguen a ver lo ocurrido, ella toma el bolso con las cosas que había dejado esta mujer misteriosa.
Después de esto, se da cuenta que de hecho esta mujer es físicamente igual a ella y se llamaba Elizabeth Beth Childs y era una oficial de policía. Así es como toma su identidad y su vida cambia, porque esta serie no es la historia de dos gemelas separadas al nacer quienes años después se han encontrado en circunstancias bastante retorcidas, sino que esta es una serie que relata la situación de dos mujeres que son algunas de las muchas clones que están alrededor del mundo y que están siendo eliminadas por alguien, y además muchas de ellas por alguna condición genética están enfermando y muriendo sin una cura que les pueda ayudar.
En un principio, esa historia de clonación puede parecer algo difícil de seguir porque hay muchos interrogantes, y además si eres una persona que ha seguido historias de clonación antes en televisión o en cine, es muy seguro de que no estés contento con los resultados vistos. Sin embargo, Orphan Black toma un camino interesante y diferente a lo que se ha mostrado estos años con la clonación, porque lo interesante aquí no es solo su genética o su sexualidad sino las diversas personalidades y formas de actuar de todas estas mujeres que intentan vivir su vida pero a su vez, intentan descubrir quiénes son, por qué son clones y cuál es la historia detrás de su creación.
Aquí vas a encontrarte con personalidades como la de Cosima quien es una joven científica, inteligente y carismática; también está Alison quien es una madre de los suburbios, entrenadora de fútbol, bastante femenina, y es alguien algo paranoica y quien tiene una vida aparentemente normal con su esposo Donnie y sus dos hijos; siguiendo esta línea, nos encontramos con Helena una joven ucraniana, psicópata pero aunque no lo crean adorable y graciosa; Sarah quien es una joven inglesa y una madre que ha tomado malas decisiones que la han llevado por un camino turbulento que la ha separado de su pequeña hija Kira. Y hay muchos más clones ¡Es increíble!
Dato curioso: Tatiana Maslany es la actriz que con su actuación en esta serie ha sido nominada dos veces al Emmy y que encarna todos estos clones LEDA (Hasta 12 o más) y su actuación es increíble, tanto que a veces es difícil saber que cada uno de los clones está siendo interpretado por una sola actriz.
Si esto no es suficiente, nos encontramos con un grupo de personas como Félix quien es el hermano adoptivo de Sarah y es quien la compaña en todo este misterio por resolver, él es un artista bastante extravagante y dramático pero tan carismático que de seguro será de tus favoritos; Mr S, la madre adoptiva Félix y Sarah con quien tiene una relación bastante tensa; también está Art Bell un detective compañero de Beth Childs y es quien empieza a sospechar del comportamiento de Beth una vez Sarah ha tomado su identidad.
Actualmente, Orphan Black va en su cuarta temporada, y se ha anunciado que tendrá una quinta y temporada final en Abril de 2017. Y quienes hemos seguido esta serie desde sus inicios, nos hemos topado con momentos, giros y muertes inesperadas que hacen que Orphan Black sea una serie impredecible y que siempre te tendrá al borde de la silla con cada capítulo pidiendo que nuestras sestras puedan encontrar las respuestas y en algún punto la felicidad y la cura que necesitan.

Orphan Black is a tv show that you must watch if you love Sci-Fi, action, comedy and clones. The story begins with Sarah, who is on a train station and meets a woman who is identical to her. The twist about this meeting, it’s that the two women meet before one of them jumps in front of a train. For a moment, Sarah can’t believe about what just happened, and before it becomes a crowd around the accident, Sarah takes the purse that was left by the mysterious woman.
After the incident, she realizes that actually that woman is physically identical to her, and she was Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Childs a police officer. With that mind, Sarah takes Beth’s identity and her life just change in a big way, because this is not a story about a pair of twins who find each other after so many years in a complex situation. Orphan Black is story about many clones who are around the world and find some additional dangers in their lives because someone is killing them, and also they have a genetic condition that causes a disease that has not cure yet.
At the beginning, the story can be a little bit difficult to follow (And even in 4th season is difficult, trust me) because there are so many questions without an answer, and also if you are a person who has been following the stories about cloning on Tv or in movies, you’re not so happy about the results. However, Orphan Black takes a different and interesting road about cloning, because it’s not only about their genetic or their sexuality, but it’s a show about different characters who act and are so different from the other one, even if they share the same aspect and look. And they just try to find who they are, why are they clones and what the backstory about their creation is.
Here you are going to find characters as Cosima who is an intelligent, charismatic young scientific. There is Alison who is a soccer and suburban mom and she is somewhat paranoid about all the cloning situation. Following this line, we find Helena a young Ukrainian, psychopath but believe it or not adorable and funny. Sarah who is a young English woman, who has made bad decisions that have been through a turbulent path, and as a result of it, her relationship with her young daughter Kira is complicated. And so many more clones, believe me it’s insane!
Fun fact: Tatiana Maslany is the one who plays all the LEDA clones (around 12 clones or more) and her performance is very impressive because she makes every clone so different, that sometimes you can easily forget that all the clones are playing by the same actress. Her role on this show makes her win two times an Emmy award nomination for best lead actress in a drama series. 
Currently, Orphan Black is in its fourth season and has announced that it will have a fifth and final season in April 2017. And those who have followed the show from the beginning, have encountered moments, turns and unexpected deaths that make Orphan Black an unpredictable series, which will always have you on the edge of your sit with each episode, making you wondering about the future of the sestras, if they can find the answers about their creators, their origin, their cure and all the problems that they have in their daily lives.
