We’ve all been through hard times at one point or another, but it is especially hard if you are or have children. I am very excited to be once again participating in the Hunger Is campaign at Randalls here in Houston, which runs from September 1st- 30th. I was mind blown last year after finding out that 1 in 5 children here in the USA live in homes without adequate food. On top of that, 10 million children across the U.S. don’t have access to free or discounted breakfast at their schools. Meaning that these children may not have a decent dinner at home, some might go to bed hungry and then they go to school and have to miss breakfast because no free or reduced breakfast is offered. Can you imagine how hard it must be trying to concentrate and learn on an empty stomach?
Now that the holidays are coming up, it’s hard to imagine any child will be going through this type of situation here in the USA. Personally, I’ve been through this as a child when my parents worked hard from dawn til dusk on farms to only make enough to cover the bills, leaving very little to sometimes no money for food. I remember when I would be awoken very early by the noise made by my mom as she rolled flour tortillas in the kitchen to make enough refried bean tacos to last us through the day. A meal I have cherished since then, and although very simple it’s the love she put into it that makes it my favorite.

How does this Work?
So for every participating item you purchase = $0.10 donation (up to $1 Million) towards making breakfast happen for children in your community. Help and be the change, every little counts.
